About Me

Easy Rider changed my life forever.

By a rather conservative estimate I have given the film a viewing well over 500 times. That probably makes me an obsessive fan. And if someone asks me if I want to watch it again I will almost certainly answer, “Yes!”

I love old school choppers. While old Panheads, Knuckles, Shovels, and Indians are cool (and I would never turn down a gift of one) my passions lie with Ironhead Sportsters. I’ve also seen plenty of old rice choppers that were a hell of a lot cooler than most of the modern big twin customs. Again, personal opinion.

In March of 2010 my 1965 Ironhead Sportster chopper got stolen from my driveway in broad daylight. I had gone to work and came back to her gone. I reported her stolen, but she never turned up. I still miss her and have not yet found the heart to replace her. Some times when your true love passes, you have a hard time moving on.

Admittedly I found some relief in it. My obsession with the film made me wonder if I would eventually die bleeding to death on the side of the road after getting blasted with a shotgun by some redneck. Turns out my chopper got stolen, just like the ones used in the film got stolen and never recovered.

Au revoir, Seraphine.

I also work as a millwright/machinist, participate in many artistic endeavors, and love running, surfing, snowboarding, and skateboarding. I keep that stuff at jartroth.com.

  1. Jacob — Great to see that you are back ! I have learned so much from your site over the years. Great Easy Rider Trivia ! I have a Panzer Captain that I bought in 2000. Love it,and ride the hell out of it.
I was 17,and a week out of High School when I went to see the movie. I thought it was the coolest bike I had ever seen…and still do.
I’ll try to send you a shot of my bike if I can figure out how to do it. Thanks for all you do….and welcome back !!!
